The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin

At Doo Dah Apparel, we appreciate a good sense of humor almost as much as we value social responsibility.  A good comical quest or social jest can lighten almost any burden like a robin’s song on a sparkling morning after a night of stormy weather.

The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin on Apple TV+ is a comedy we’re raving about.  Dick Turpin, played by Noel Fielding, spurns the opportunity to pursue a respectable career as an apprentice at his father’s butcher shop to become a famous, swashbuckling English highwayman.  A highwayman is essentially a person who robbed travelers in the 19th century, but unlike those boorish criminals stealing by foot, is considered socially superior because he and his gang, if he had a gang, committed their crimes by horse.  They’re pirates on hooves!

Dick Turpin, though, is a bit of a character.  In his latest escapade, Curse of the Reddlehag, Dick frees a woman from a coach he’s robbing after being told by the coachman that she’s a witch up to no good.  As an aspiring highwayman set on establishing his own renown, Dick refuses to believe the woman he’s released from the coach is a witch, even after she’s turned a few of his companions into chickens!  He eventually realizes the truth after seeing the witch flying around on her broom screeching like a madwoman, but not before she’s well on her way to capturing villagers’ souls and leading them all to Hell.  Oh, and not before she turned Dick into a chicken, too!  That’s all we’ll tell you, ‘less we ruin the end of the episode for you.  If you’re looking for a good laugh, give Dick Turpin a try, you just might be glad you did.

Apple TV+ offers an incredible value for your entertainment dollar.  Apple is new to the movie and sitcom industry, but like their computers, in my opinion, they’re some of the best in the business.  Every production they invest in is well planned, intelligent, creative, entertaining, and most importantly, original.  In fact, one of their first movies won an Academy Award for Best Picture, CODA.  Perhaps our favorite Apple series for television is Little America, consisting of 16 episodes over two season based on true inspiring stories of immigrants living the American dream.  If you’d like to put disappointment and struggle into context, we recommend you watch Little America.  Most immigrants that come to America are doing their best to make a positive contribution, not only for themselves, but for our Country as well.

The New Look about the lives of Christian Dior and Coco Chanel during the Second World War after the Nazis occupied Paris is one of our favorite Apple TV+ shows here at Doo Dah Apparel.  We’ve also enjoyed watching The Morning Show, Eugene Levy’s The Reluctant Traveler, Ted Lasso, the movie Luck, Lessons in Chemistry, Shrinking, Acapulco, The Buccaneers, and Trying.  We apologize if we’re sounding a bit like an advertisement for Apple TV+, but ya know what, it’s hard not to enjoy a little good TV after a long day.

Have a wonderful weekend, folks!
